Liaison Officers Protocol
The role of the Liaison Officer
- To represent, enhance and promote the image and interests of the Pike Anglers' Club of Gt. Britain within
the area for which they have responsibility.
- To foster good relations with all angling related organisations and agencies within that area.
- To provide an avenue of communication between such organisations and agencies and the PAC
Committee, and when requested, to act for and on behalf of the PAC Committee.
- To offer whatever assistance and motivation possible to Regional Associations/Regional Organisers within
their area of responsibility.
- To encourage and assist in the continued existence of established Regional Associations within their area,
and where such a need is identified, to assist in the establishment of new Regional Associations.
- To regularly communicate with other LIAISON OFFICERS, and with the PAC Committee, thus ensuring
that problems and matters of concern to the Club can be identified and resolved quickly.
Conditions of Appointment
- The post of LIAISON OFFICER is an appointment made by the Secretary an behalf of the PAC
Committee.
- LIAISON OFFICERS are effectively non executive members of the PAC Committee, and are directly
responsible to the Secretary for matters of interest or concern to the Club within the area for which they
have responsibility.
- LIAISON OFFICERS activities and duties should not impinge in any way on the autonomy of REGIONAL
ORGANISERS or REGIONAL ASSOCIATIONS within their area, other than in exceptional
circumstances and with the approval of the PAC Committee.
- LIAISON OFFICERS becoming involved with issues of a politically or constitutionally sensitive nature,
MUST discuss such matters fully with the Secretary, PRIOR to any commitment or agreement being
entered into by them on behalf of the Club. (Paragraph 4 above should not inhibit or prevent LIAISON
OFFICERS from using their own Initiative in pursuing effective dialogue with persons or organisations on
the Club's behalf, providing the safeguards within paragraph 4 are borne in mind.)
- On the completion of a PAC Committee's term of office, LIAISON OFFICERS appointed by the outgoing'
Committee are deemed to have stood down also, the incoming Committee having responsibility for the
appointment of LIAISON OFFICERS to serve the Club during their own term of office.
- However, other than in exceptional circumstances, or when an outgoing LIAISON OFFICER has intimated
to the Committee the he/she does not wish to continue In the post, the incoming Committee can reappoint
Liaison Officers of the previous Committee to continue in their posts, this being in the interests of
continuity and efficiency, and for the Club's long term benefit.
