There is no doubt that the
internet is a great way of communicating quickly as more and more people get on-line.
And a website of their own is a fantastic place for PAC regions to keep their
members up to date with what's going on. However not everyone has, or even wants,
the know how to build and run a website for their region. But there is an alternative
for a region that wants a place in cyberspace to publicise its meetings and events
and keep its members and the rest of the world informed of what it is up to. The
blog.
Blogs
require little more than basic word processing skills to set up and manage. PAC
is now offering to help regional organisers set up their own blogs. If you take
a look at the Lincoln blog at http://lincolnpac.blogspot.com
you can see what is possible with just a little practice.
As
Chico said, "The blogspot is a great tool for keeping everyone informed of
local info and can be linked directly to PAC matters as ours is, I hope more regions
take it up, much easier than a webpage."
As
the PAC wishes to encourage as many regions to have a web presence we are offering
to help Regional Organisers set up their own blogs. Any RO wanting to start a
blog of their own should first go to www.blogger.com
and follow the simple instructions there.Help and advice on setting up and running
the blog are available through the PAC members Message
Board.
To
help promote the PAC across the internet there are logos, buttons and news feeds
available for bloggers and web masters to use on the web pages in the Website
Material page.
If
even running a basic blog seems too daunting ROs can always send details of their
events to webmaster@pacgb.com and they will be put on line in the Regional
News page of this site.
